It's no secret to all of us here at MotorWorld Acura that crossovers and SUVs are growing rapidly in popularity. Drivers love the comfort, utility, and space that models like the 2017 Acura MDX and 2017 Acura RDX have to offer. So rumors about a new Acura crossover vehicle don't come as a surprise to us. According to a recent report, the Acura CDX could soon make its way to the American market.
The luxury compact crossover market is a small one right now, but it's poised for rapid growth. If you like the Acura RDX and the Acura MDX, but want something a little bit smaller, the Acura CDX could be perfect for you. This model is already available in China, and it looks like a new version designed for the United States might be in the works.
This small crossover is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine that can put out 182 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, but some new engine options could be offered if and when it arrives in the United States. It also comes equipped with an efficient eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. If you like efficiency and a great driving experience, this model fits in well with the rest of the Acura lineup.
That's not the extent of the Acura brand's crossover plans though. Other new Acura models are also in development. The Acura RDX will receive a refresh next year as demand for SUVs remains sky high. A larger crossover with a bigger third row than the comfortable Acura MDX might also be in the cards. A hybrid version of the Acura MDX is also arriving on the market soon. We can't wait to learn more about all of these new crossover models!
